Something not right? Tell me.
I make Kate on my own, so when you write in, I’m the one who reads it. Bug reports, feature ideas and “how do I…” questions are all welcome.

joshua@ironcoffee.comSend a report from the app
If something broke, a report from inside Kate tells me what happened much faster than I could work it out from a description.
- Open Settings in Kate.
- Tap Report a Problem.
- Write a line or two about what went wrong.
- The share sheet opens with the report attached. Pick Mail, or wherever you like, and send it to me.
The report contains what you wrote, your device and iOS version, library counts, and a recent app log. It doesn’t contain song titles, lyrics or audio. You choose where it goes. More in the privacy policy.
Questions people ask
Is Kate free?
Yes. There’s no subscription and nothing to unlock. The tip jar in Settings is just a tip: it unlocks nothing and every feature is free.
Do I need an account?
No. You don’t sign up for anything. Your songs live on your device and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own iCloud.
How do I add songs?
Share an audio file to “Add to Kate” from Voice Memos, Files or any share sheet, or use the + button in Library.
Where do the lyrics come from?
Kate can look them up for you, or you can paste them in or open an .lrc or .txt file. To sync them, tap along as the song plays, or let Listen & Align time every word on your iPhone.
Why can’t I sing along with the original song in the Record Booth?
Recording along with the original song from Apple Music needs an active Apple Music subscription. Recording over silence or over your own instrumental works without one.
Will editing in the Studio ruin my original recording?
No. Kate always keeps the original, and you can flip the Before/After switch to compare.
Does Ask the Studio send my audio anywhere?
No, it runs on your device. It uses Apple Intelligence when your device supports it, and a built-in phrase list otherwise.
How do I share a library with someone?
Go to Settings > Library > Invite. The people you invite use their own Apple Account, and they can listen and add songs. Songs download when you play them, so a big library won’t fill up anyone’s phone.
